While DET is doing the Pens a favor to relieve cap space, Petts + ZAR are certainly worth more than that. I think if you make that 4th into a 2nd or maybe two 3rd's it's closer.

Im a Pens fan and think this is very fair.

I hate the Pit trade, but only because i really like ZAR. I think GMRH would entertain the conversation and its pretty close/fair.

DET needs to take the next step, its time. They have the pieces.

Probably a 1st rounder or better prospect. Dvorak is a very good, reliable player

I completely disagree. Yes Detroit has some very good prospects but that is all they are prospects. This is the stage where a lot of rebuilding teams mess up and end up in the never ending rebuild. So you can't count those prospects as pieces until they have earned a permanent roster spot on Detroit's roster.

With the trade Namestnikov stays or goes I don't think he will have a big enough of an impact to matter either way. I also don't think Yzerman brings Pettersson to Detroit he simply has too much term left. $4M for the next 4yrs is a big gamble for a player you have no idea if he'd even fit in.
