Quite properly, in my opinion, CapFriendly has a prohibition against using such contemptuous phrases as “lol” and “[team] laughs at that proposal” and “[GM] hangs up the phone.” (Just check the “Forum Rules.”) Specifically, CapFriendly explicitly states, “Do not harass, threaten, mock, or insult others. Debates are encouraged, but ad hominem attacks are not (criticize the opinion, not the user).”

I think that the time has come for CapFriendly to add the insulting shorthand phrases “lmao” and “lmfao” and their even more insulting relative, “stfu” to the list of proscribed childishnesses. I try to respect others and have been fairly criticized when I have failed to do so. If CapFriendly takes this action, I promise to stop my practice of calling opinions with which I seriously disagree “hilarious,” which now strikes me as unnecessarily provocative.
