yikes to the ranger trade. You do understand UPL is the Sabres goalie of the future, that they are investing into, and specifically that is the reason why they brought in Anderson? They've said it multiple times

I really think the perception of kosk is way off. Oilers can’t just trade him and reinvest the money elsewhere they need someone to back up smith who is 39 years old. If a deal was to be made like this kosk would be the starter on this roster without question. He’s really not nearly as bad as he’s made out to be on this site.

If the Rangers are giving up Chytil and Kakko, you'd have to retain more that 1.5m per year.

Olofsson > 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
Koskinen + Lavoie = Future considerations.
I will gladly take Kassian as well if you want to ADD a 2nd round pick, because as this trade is written the Oilers are getting a great LW to play with either Connor or Leon for less than his value.
Olofsson has 35 goal and 78 pts in 116 NHL games.
Presuming he would play about 80 games in a season that comes to 24 goals and 54 pts.
That is just about equal to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins life time production, IMO that alone is a first, second and third value.

I will agree to 25% reduction if you agree to take out Georgiev, 2023 3rd round pick (NYR), 2023 4th round pick (NYR) and add 2023 1st round pick.
Chytil, Kakko, 2022 1st round pick (NYR) and 2023 1st round pick (NYR) with 25% retention of Jack Eichel.
With Jack the first round picks are most likely to be among the last 8 or even 4 of each round, nearly seconds.

Olofsson is a power play specialist, he's replacement level at 5v5. As such, he's not worth more than a late-round pick to the Oilers, and then only if the Sabres are taking equal cap back.

Seriously, look at his numbers. Can't score worth a damn at 5v5 and that's what the Oilers need.

0.37 G/60 and just 54.55 IPP in over 2 seasons.

That's a big GFY from Edmonton.

@CD282
@Pags
I did not check before comparing Olofsson to RNH but here is an eye opener for you:
2020-'21 season RNH 9 PPG 7 EV 56% PPG, Olofsson 7 PPG 6 EV 54% PPG.
So while you say GFY, I am not the one who posted the trade.
I am perfectly happy to keep Olofsson but to add a cap dump and say Buffalo should take a dump, look in the mirror for who does not know the facts.

Olofsson has scored just 10 goals in the past 2 years at 5v5, in 1522:40. That works out to a G/60 of 0.39. Here are the Oilers forwards ranked by 5v5 goals-per-sixty over the past 2 years:

1. McDavid: 1.20
2. Draisaitl: 1.01
3. Puljujarvi: 0.89
4. Kassian: 0.87
5. Kahun: 0.81
6. Nugent-Hopkins: 0.80
7. Yamamoto: 0.72
8. Ennis: 0.62
9. Granlund: 0.57
10. Neal: 0.54
11. Archibald: 0.54
12. Khaira: 0.50
13. Chaisson: 0.49
14. Sheahan: 0.45
15. Haas: 0.4
16. Gagner: 0.42
17. Turris: 0.42

A bunch of these guys aren't even in the league anymore, in part because they couldn't score enough. And yet they've all scored more than Olofsson has. Even on the sad-sack Sabres teams Olofsson hasn't shown well:

1. Reinhart: 0.90
2. Skinner: 0.81
3. Sheary: 0.76
4. Eichel: 0.74
5. Asplund: 0.72
6. Girgensens: 0.69
7. Lazar: 0.66
8. Rieder: 0.65
9. Vesey: 0.61
10. Mittelstadt: 0.57
11. Okposo: 0.53
12. Rodrigues: 0.48
13. Johansson: 0.44
14. Scandella: 0.41
15. Olofsson: 0.39
16. Larsson: 0.39

As for Koskinen, while he may be overpaid he's still needed in Edmonton. Over the past 2 seasons he's posted a .910 sv% which is more than fine, and if you remove the ridiculous stretch at the beginning of 20-21 where he was forced to play 12 games in 24 nights while traveling thousands of miles through 4 timezones he's averaged .916 over the past 2 years. They aren't looking to "dump" him at all.
