Description

Obviously 1st oa is a stretch. Det will prob end up finishing between 4th and 9th in the standings so a lotto win would be unlikely but hey; maybe it’s finally Det turn? Either way, they will find someone to play 1st/2nd line C between now and then. Every other piece is already in the org. Seider is ready and probably only a year away from 1st pair duties. Hronek would be an Elite 2nd pairing. Edvinsson is maybe 2 years away and Al only a year away; both project as top 4 at least while Gus is the perfect stay at home 3rd pairing guy.
As for the forwards, the biggest question marks outside of a 1C not named Larkin is whether Veleno and Zadina can put it all together. Zadina showed very good decision making and 2-way play but needs to put pucks in the net more and Veleno seems to play to his level of opponent so I’d be curious how well he’d do with full time NHL work: can he be a 40pt 3rd liner? Ras played well at C but is better suited for the Wing IMO and Berg can very well be playing 1st line min by this time over 3rd...
Ned is prob starter opening night but Cossa wins out by season end.

Yeah hate to spoil things but Shane Wright isn't happening, This team will finish no worse then the 8th-10th spot. Detroit wont finish top 3 period.

as mush as i would like to see them draft 1 or 2 next year i think they are gonna be much more competitive, i still think they have all the young pieces they need even without him though

Assuming the cap doesn’t rise! They could have up to 30 depending on contracts. Can easily take on a couple cap dumps for more picks

I know, and I agree, they’ll probably be 8/9th seed but that still leaves a small, small, chance at 1oa... that being said, 2022 is pretty C heavy according to analysts so whoever they draft in 22 has a chance to be slotted as 2C
