The act as if we would want to trade our Number one d man for a bunch of scraps on d and Canucks are selling the team when we want to contend soon with developed prospects.

Not really - most of these Quinn-to-NJD things are coming from non-NJ fans (and even some Canucks fans).
We are good with Smith.

And my response has always been...just tee up some Jack and Luke deals to Vancouver.
They are just as likely as Quinn-to-NJ.

"He started the season playing next to Matt Tennyson. He was decent, but his defensive numbers were still bad. However, when he was paired with Damon Severson, everything changed." That's a direct quote from this article: https://pucksandpitchforks.com/2021/02/23/new-jersey-devils-ty-smith-great-bet-calder-trophy/

Smith definitely played the best with Severson this year but they didn't play together for the majority of the year. They were split apart since they were the two best defensemen on the Devils. Ruff wanted to balance out the pairings

Canucks laugh and hang up. Replace the second with a first and replace Siegenthaler and Bahl with Ty Smith and you got a deal. Devils fans are so delusional!

I think Smith would have to be involved in any trade to Vancouver. Vancouver's roster minus defense is actually looking pretty decent, it's their defense that is horrendous. Without Smith coming back I cannot see Vancouver even contemplating trading by far their best defenseman from by far the teams weakest position.
