i just think it's the due process of negotiations. it takes a lot of time an conversations to nail down 1st contracts with high profile prospects coming off their ELC
it was the same with boeser, marner, nylander and more. these are young, relatively un-proven players who are demanding based on their potential, and teams are looking for more certainty based on resume. then theres the options of long term or bridge, rfq expiry or ufa expiry, deal structure, protection, bonuses cap space, cap trajectory..... so many variables
