Kings decline, the whole point of getting Danault was to allow Kopitar to open up more offensively.

Flames get a significantly older player on a worse contract who only slightly out produces Monahan. flames wouldn't even do this if it were one for one not to mention adding a prospect and picks

I mean it’s Calgary proposing the trade here, which makes sense because Sutter loves to take on old gritty defense first players and he absolutely loves Kopitar. But I don’t see the value for Calgary trading with division rivals or getting older either.

That being said, if you are going to compare Kopitar and Monahan you talk about how one is a top line center who shuts down some of the top lines in the league and the other is a defensive liability who is better suited for a bottom six role as depth scoring.
