Gymnastics 2 get Eichel

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 29, 2021
Published: Aug. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lots of moves here. So not a realistic ACGM, but given where the Wild cap is headed I don't see how Wild can keep Dumba, Greenway or even Fiala. The Sabres don't want veterans, though I broke that rule a bit with Kempe but he is still a RFA who makes manageable money and Sabres may be able to re-sign a guy like him to a bit of term, even if he is only willing to take a bridge deal he still allows the Sabres time to trade him. Letang only has a year remaining and maybe he would be willing to re-sign for manageable money but more likely he leaves after a year and Addison better be ready.

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Letang, Kris
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Let's assume GMBG can convince him to come to MN.
Letang is more expensive immediately but his term is shorter and he buys one more year for Addison to develop.
PIT
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
Penguins need to start getting younger. Dumba isn't a spring chicken but he is good enough to help penguins right now and when they do start all over he will be a good veteran leader to help with the transition.
Wild motivation to trade him is chiefly out of the need for cap space in the near future.
2.
MIN
  1. Hayton, Barrett
Additional Details:
This is part cap dump and part getting something for Greenway before Wild can't afford him. Hayton has been a disappointment so far but a change of scenery may spark him. I may be overpaying a bit for him but since I added the Rask cap dump I figured I would need to overpay a bit. I'm think 2- 2nds roughly for the Rask dump and Greenway for Hayton.
ARI
  1. Greenway, Jordan
  2. Rask, Victor
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (MIN)
3.
MIN
  1. Grans, Helge
  2. Kempe, Adrian
  3. Kupari, Rasmus
Additional Details:
Grans because Wild need another solid prospect in the system on the right. Kempe and Kupari I suspect would interest the Sabres in a Eichel deal.
LAK
  1. Fiala, Kevin ($500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Retention to make the cap work for LA

Do you feel value is off or just that Letang deserves to finish his career on one team?

The values off. Pens arent going to trade Letang, Crosby, or Malkin unless its an overpay. They all want to finish there careers in PIT

Who wants eichel at this point knowing full well he's going to be out long term? Also, Michael Russo reported wild are completely out.

Yeah Wild are currently out, but Russo also said that could change with a phone call. I personally want Eichel, he is a great player. If a Eichel deal gets done tomorrow he could have his surgery 3 days later and only miss a month of the season according to the surgeon who would be doing the surgery and the timeline given by Eichel former agents.

2 2nds to move rask is outrageous. It should be in between a 2nd and a 3rd.

Definitely like fiala over kempe but definitely not for the cost of the other 2.

Kupari is looking more NHL ready for LA and will push for a spot.

Kings are very high on grans but maybe deal him away for the right guy. Is fiala that guy? Idk

I just looked into it a bit and it would appear you have a argument. Letang still is the better player. Given his age, for how much longer? Plus in this deal the Pens are getting cap savings this season. That said the deal is probably lopsided in Minnesotas favor. I'll have to put this trade in the not likely pile.
