I personally would hope that by this time Romanov is getting a longer deal, maybe 6-7 years.
I think you could get Drouin for less than that. Unless he overperforms, then you could get him at maybe in the 3M range

A - I didn’t have the cap space.
B - It’s really hard to project what a young player will be like 3 seasons from now, and this is the kind of contract that seemed the most realistic to me.

This is under the assumption that Jo is finally able to play some more full seasons, and gets close to his 18-19 self again. Obviously there’s a chance that he’s even closer to the start of the 19-20 season Drouin, which would be great, although in that case it wouldn’t be feasible to re-sign him.

Drouin as his previous self would be amazing. Especially if we're able to somehow able to convert him to centre. I think if he does get to the start of the 19-20 self, you could trade Savard, bring Brook up, and still resign him.
