Sabres wouldnt be picking top 5 in both, let alone either with this roster

I doubt that but still they are way better off not offersheeting and getting at least 1 lf those players

Nah, they'll just have another Eichel on there hands. Sabres OS Pettersson and they will have a decent top 6 with a very good defense coming up next year and a stable goalie group

This defense is still awful, they will be picking top 5 for at least the next two years. Once Cozens and Mittelstadt develop then that might turn around. And that will be the exact time that Cozens gets taken by VAN with an OS...

This team is still not good
Replaced Eichel and Reinhart with Pettersson and Tkachuk
Middle six is very young (not good yet)
Defense is pretty weak
Goaltending got worse

The only teams I could see this team finishing ahead of are the Ducks, Coyotes, and maybe Blue Jackets

Wright will likely be better than Eichel, Bedard its pretty early to tell but odds are pretty good too

I didnt say they going to the playoffs this year. The 2nd line are past the young stage, thats why theyre together, Mitts and Olofsson are fully established. UPL - Anderson is a lot better than Houser - Tokarski. I disagree with a lot of your assessment but dont believe theyre a wild card theyd pick like 8 again, but would be getting significantly better next year

Mittelstadt is past the age of development, he either shows up this year or hes a bust. The D got rid of Ristolainen who was the most horrid defensmen ever according to this website and advanced stats nerds so that should be addition by subtraction, no? This roster doesnt pick top 5

I was talking about UPL and Anderson being worse than Ullmark. Which teams do you think will be worse than the Sabres?

That's fine, the next 2 drafts are stacked and at worst they finish 3rd. You could easily end up with another Eichel or 2

With this roster or irl? Irl Coyotes are definitely the worst team in the league, Sabres Ana and Columbus will be within a few points of each other, then there will be 2 "unpredictable" collapses imo, possibly Nsh, Minnesota if they dont have Kaprizov, mtl may fall back to reality, Vancouvers missing 2 key pieces, SJS is shakey, Seattle i dont see having a vegas run, detroit also wont be good again

Or another Mittelstadt or 2. Sabres definitively have the worst scouting staff in the league

This assumes Pettersson wants to ruin his career and sentence himself to purgatory by signing with Buffalo.

Which he has publicly stated that he wants to "compete", so I guess it's a no from him.

Well if Mittelstadt isn't going to develop any further then he is a bust. Even strength oiGA/60 = 3.3 last season, ES oiGF/60 = 2.4. He can put up some points but he gives away ALOT more than he scores. He is not the guy you want as your 2C long term if you think he won't get ant better. I personally think he will improve over the next 2 years.

Cozens supplants him, unless he continues playing like he did at the end of last year

Also, not sure how you managed this, but you offer sheeted EP for $14m but only signed him for $10m. Obviously you will need to have him signed for $14m if that is your OS.

With this roster
Coyotes are definitely the worst
Ducks and Blue Jackets most likely be better than the Sabres
Detroit could be up there
Nashville has a good defense and goaltending, they'll be better.
Minnesota will be back to mediocrity without Kaprizov but still better than this roster
Vancouver is in an easy division and still has a good top 6 without EP
Montreal will end up falling back to reality, but they won't fall that far down
Sharks have too many vets. They'll be better than the Sabres
Seattle is going to be average with their goaltending and defense

So yes, the Pettersson offersheet isn't a smart idea because the Sabres will pick top 5 with this roster
