Description

I didn't sign or trade for any goalies and I think Edmonton's management believes Ilya and Skinner will be ready soon and have faith in them (That's why they passed on Wallstedt). I could totally see them bringing in a goalie who's more established, but I'm trying to keep the core together and avoid huge trades or signings which could be unrealistic.
I only made two trades,
- One is a cap dump to the sharks because I believe they won't be done rebuilding in 2 years
- The second trade is moving Barrie who's on the last year of his deal to Vegas who I think will still be trying to contend in 2 years. Vegas also doesn't have any standout defensive prospects at the moment. The Barrie trade will let Vegas have a top-4 of:
Theo - Pietrangelo
Martinez - Barrie
Edmonton's top-6 hasn't changed and I believe as long as they keep Yamo and Puljujarvi they will likely run it. This would allow the Oilers to run a kid 3-Line, which is big and skilled.

We really don't need more wingers particularly not slow ones. Nor would we move futures for an overpaid vet.

Don't know if Barrie and Kassian can be moved without sending cap back to the Oilers. That goaltending has to be improved.

This is a 2023 roster, there's only 1 year left on his contract and the Sharks won't be competitive for 4+ years

right now there are 3 years left on his contract, in 2023 which is 2 years after (3-2=1) there is 1 year left.
