Aren’t they sitting Matthews? I mean I would. What’s the point of playing him in a pre season game while he’s still recovering from surgery?

I am not sure the Leafs made the right changes this offseason. I don't like the downgrades made on 1 & 2 LW, the bottom 6, the 2 & 3 RD and goaltending are all still questionable. IMO to solidify the F group Leafs should line up:

Ritchie-Matthews-Marner
Robertson-Tavares-Nylander
Brooks-Kerfoot-Kampf
Mikheyev-Spezza-Kase
Reilly-Brodie
Muzzin-Sandin
Dermott-Holl
Campbell
Mrazek

But I still question the bottom pairing and the goaltending but at least the forward group and top 4 are solid.

Oh ok mb. I don’t mind these lines, but I’d do bunting-Matthews-marner, kerfoot-Tavares-nylander, Ritchie-kampf-kase, and Mikheyev-spezza-simmonds. I don’t want Ritchie in the top 6. He’d be a great presence on that third line which is a checking line that can also produce offence. Kase and Ritchie also played on the same lines in Anaheim and Boston at some points. They have chemistry.
