2017-18 Winnipeg Jets

Created by: JuniorGM
Team: 2017-18 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 8, 2017
Published: Mar. 8, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets make a few adds but nothing huge. Finally have a capable backup. Have Little ride shot gun with Roslovic to help him with this first season as an NHL center. Spread out the scoring over 3 lines all playing around 17mins a night. Most west teams a top heavy on their roster this helps the jets create matchup issues. Also the jets would be the fastest team in the NHL speed everywhere. Size doesn't win in the NHL anymore speed does but the jets do have some size throughout the lineup just not a heavy team anymore make the full switch to skill and speed.

Looks great but I think Petan is a bit high on the second line and Ehlers should play above Connor

Ehlers needs to be with Little and Wheeler - his usual line mates if i remember correctly. I'd put Connor with Scheifele & Laine.

Helly isn't ready. You don't need a backup, you need a real starter. I think this would be a playoff team now with a legit goalie.

Also Jets are nowhere near the fastest team dude

Roslovic and Connor both skate as well or better than ehlers. Little, perrealt and scheifele are both above average speed wise. Wheeler is a burner. Laine is the only one in the top 9 that can't fly and he isn't slow and only one in their forward group below average is lowry. Also Helle is a. 911 sv% goalie as a 23 year old league average is. 913 hes more than fine if you get an average backup.

Why put another scorer with laine?

The point is balance so you can play the lines equally making it hard on other teams to match up.

IDK man, look at his adv numbers. His SV% looks inflated because he's stopping a lot of low danger scoring chances. His predictive PK numbers and high danger SV% is 21st and 28th respectively. Thats pretty ass. Not saying he's going to be bad, but he's not ready. I think this has to permeate the Jets' consciousness because they can't take the next step forward without solid, consistent goaltending. Ask yourself honestly if Helly has done that this year

As soon as you used PK sv% you lost me. PK sv% is not very repeatable and more team influenced then goalie skill. His xFsv% is in the positive which is good to me.
