no team, no fanbase, no player (well with some exceptions cough cough marchand and wilson), deserves what the leafs have endured

no the problem isnt the record, you were good in the regular season last year but we saw what happened in the playoffs, the problem is the team is just not playing well. youre winning games by the skin of your teeth, and yes, youre winning but its not gonna work in the long run. i know matthews has been out but when nylander, spezza, and bunting are your leading scorers, thats something you really have to address. i mean marner hasnt scored a goal since his 2nd to last game OF THE 2020-21 SEASON, he has 5 pts in 13 games, and all of them are assists. Matthews, the reigning rocket winner hasnt scored since game 2 of the playoffs. Tavares, your captain, has one goal this season, and it was a shot by, you guessed it, nylander, that bounced off the goalie, hit him in the arm (i think) and bounced in, im pretty sure it didnt touch his stick, and im not even completely sure it touched him at all.

dont even try to act like this is just 5 games, dont even try. for tampa, for colorado, for vegas, it is just 5 games, but for toronto its a looot more than 5 games.

first of all, 2-3-1, you just lost to 7-1 to a pittsburgh team with evan rodrigues as the 1c, a pittsburgh team without their top 3 centers, or their best defenseman, or bryan rust.

second of all you havent won a playoff round for 17 years, the benefit of the doubt does not exist for a team that lost in 6 against washington in 2017, in 7 against boston in both 2018 and 2019, in 5 against columbus in 2020, and gave up a 3-1 series lead against montreal just a few months ago. your best scorers arent scoring, your 2nd defensive pairing is at a -3, your backup goalie is michael hutchinson, and your 1st line HAS ONE POINT AND 0 GOALS THIS SEASON

what the Leafs have endured is all self inflicted. they tried to be too greedy too fast. The islanders will have a cup before the Leafs and that will be sweet victory. Go buy another player
