As a complete outsider (although one whose teams are contenders with Calgary in the Pathetic Division), I don't like the idea of trading Monahan right now, because I think it would mean the Flames would lose a lot of momentum towards a playoff spot until Eichel gets back on the ice; if that doesn't happen until well into 2022, then I think they might miss the post-season completely.

Whatever VGK is offering would be yards better than this. Plus, the cap makes no sense next year for the Flames. Honestly I don't know how they are even in the discussion, but you could've put a smidge more effort into the trade

Well dude, last time I checked, were not NHL GM's, nor do we even know the asking price. VGK and Calgary both have the same haul when it comes to acquiring Eichel. For all we know, Tkachuk could be dealt for him, who knows. I can guarantee you that a centreman will be going the other way, and it aint gonna be Backlund.
