The deal is fair for what Gibson brings. You have longterm goaltending with him for the duration of his contract. Exactly what we need. Tho I would not target him because we can’t afford him. But he has been good so far and deserves a decent package for it

So you think ignoring the past 2+ years data is prudent just because he's played well in the past 12 games?? That's not a great strategy.

Here's my other concern with using just a 12 game sample size for Gibson:

2018-19
First 12 games: .935
Rest of season: .911 (46 games)

2019-20
First 12 games: .926
Rest of season: .899 (40 games)

2020-21
First 12 games: .923
Rest of season: .894 (23 games)

2021-22
First 12 games: .924
Rest if season: ________

He plays in Anaheim for pete’s sake. Bring him in a new team that actually is good and he will return to former glory. I imagine a team like Avs would like him if they lose Kuemper in FA. Imagine him with that team. That is stuff that nightmares are made of!

You do realize that the Oilers are worse defensively than the Ducks, right?

They are actually doing fine this season. But with the best offence in the whole league you can play alot in the other zone at least

Have you paid ANY attention to the Oilers this season? That's a serious question - they're 28th in the league for shots against and 29th for high danger chances and you think they're "doing fine"? The reason they're 11-4 is all down to offense and goaltending.

Update: the Oilers are now 31st for shots against per 60.
