This line here is why I'm such a proponent of fixing the blueline above all else. Anything shy of De Haan or Lindholm isn't enough. Skinner is showing to be more than reliable enough in the event one of Koskinen or Smith aren't available for the playoffs. Fix the goaltending later. Just add some better forward depth and a bonafide high end defenceman already lol

I think finding out about the prospects is the first step, before going out and spending a lot of assets on a rental like Lindholm. That's what we're seeing now.

Same with the goalie situation. We know Holland went out and talked with other teams to find out which goalies were available and how much they would cost, but he wisely gave Skinner the opportunity first before making any moves, and suddenly all talk of the Oilers trading for a goalie has ceased.

I was working on a team with that mindset goaltending isn’t a problem we can afford a downgrade if we can reallocate the cap being spent on bettering the defence. I think korp could put up similar numbers to kosk if the d was reliable which right now I hate to say it it’s a joke. Il post it close enough to being done.

I'll never understand the obsession a considerable sect of Oilers fans have with Korpisalo. Skinner is *right there*. All they need is a proper #3C such that they can keep Nuge in the top-six and a really good LHD to run behind Nurse. Hopefully one that pairs well with Barrie.

Why are you so set on Korpisalo? He's done absolutely nothing to deserve your worship.

Worshipping an 8-game hot streak like we didn't see the same things out of Fasth, Scrivens, or Bryzgalov before a shoddy Oilers blueline derailed them too.

Because he can be kept around for similar budget to what Holland appears to have planed for next year. I’m loosing faith in the d with each passing game that needs to be corrected. Rather spend money on the blue line. Either that or need to swing really big and get a top five type of goalie who can hide and cover up the fact the d group isn’t very good. There is a lot more d out there than goalies that can fix the problem.

Why does the budget matter? He not an NHL quality player - even if he played for free it wouldn't be worth having him around.

You say harsh, I say reality. It's an assessment based wholly on his performance.
