SJ would be fools to do this, buyout is preferable to another expensive RD.

Vancouver would be a good destination for Kane, but we have no interest in Myers. We have a logjam in the defense as is and we need slots where our youngsters can start to play. Would you consider Dickinson + 2022 3rd round or Pearson + 2022 3rd round instead?

Just a note, Vancouver don't have interest. Kane's agent called Vancouver.

This team is way too fragile rn to bring in a guy like Kane BUT Pearson and a 3rd is definitely tempting.

Edit: assuming some retention (25% MIN) on Kane

Given Will's comments on the matter, it's inevitable that trading Kane will involve retention. 25% retention would be more ideal, but the Sharks want him out and will do what's necessary to make it work for everyone.

I feel like at 50% retained you would actually be able to get something of value for Kane.

Maybe I'm crazy but he would be a 30g scorer at <4mil cap hit. If you're good enough, teams don't care how much of an ass you are (Tony D).

Kane at 50% for Pearson and a 3rd is pretty much cap neutral for the Sharks and they don't get much better (Pearson is pretty bad rn). That's why I think maybe in this scenario 25% is more fair.

Makes sense, and saving more on Kane's cap hit never hurts. One thing's for sure though, I'd rather take on Pearson's contract than Myers. Everyone not named Miller, Garland, Hughes or Demko has been bad for the Canucks and we don't need another expensive RD on our blue line, so I'd be happy to give Pearson the benefit of the doubt (especially if we save extra on Kane's cap hit).

If anything I think it’d be Kane with 50% retained and a 3rd for Pearson. That wouldn’t change either teams cap hits and it would allow San Jose to be paying a player that’s actually in the lineup for them
