Getting some picks

Created by: MountRoyal
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2021
Published: Dec. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Some of the bigger contracts will be harder to move, but maybe guys like Lehkonen, Toffoli, Allen and Edmunston would be moved in the summer or the next season. Caufield to the AHL.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (LAK)
NSH
  1. Weber, Shea
Additional Details:
Absolutely no idea or point of reference for what Nashville might pay to avoid cap recapture penalties with Weber ...here they give up something, but not something outrageous that will hurt them either
3.
MTL
  1. Turris, Kyle
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Kulak, Brett
Additional Details:
Kulak on his own gets a 4th, but with taking back a bad contract to help the cap implications, Kulak can get a 3rd
4.
MTL
  1. Hagelin, Carl
  2. Kempný, Michal
  3. 2022 1st round pick (WSH)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (WSH)
WSH
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
  2. Perreault, Mathieu
Additional Details:
Chiarot with retention and taking back Kempny's buried contract is worth a late 1st and another pick. Perreault is at worst a lateral move with Hagelin and is probably the better player anyway, but the Caps shed the more expensive contract, so that bumps the value of the additional pick.
5.
MTL
  1. Jones, Max
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Anaheim seems like they could compete for the playoffs this year, maybe they try to add? Drouin is risky but maybe the low-pressure Anaheim environment is where he'd fit in. Its a risk, but with upside.
6.
MTL
  1. 2024 7th round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Hagelin, Carl
  2. 2022 4th round pick (TBL)
7.
MTL
  1. 2024 6th round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Turris, Kyle ($825,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Turris has almost no value, but as a depth piece to fill in for multiple playoff injuries at minimum salary, maybe he fetches a very late pick

Good thinking on all of these. Pretty realistic.

I'd be interested to see what we do with Lehkonen too this deadline. He's a super hard worker and a great exemple for the kids to look at, but he also is what a lot of contender teams would want for a deep playoff run. If the return is better than the value of a 3rd, I would consider moving him at the deadline instead of in the summer.

I would love to see Gorton play dirty with the Weber cap recapture. Go after NSH lol, offer Weber a role in habs management if he retires after this season.

It's based on the condition made in the Dvorak trade.

Atleast you didn’t try to act like Weber is worth a gold mine. Nashville might actually consider it but then again, it’s not like we can control if he retires or not (for that matter neither can Montreal).
