Deadline Buyers

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Comment about what you would offer for Debrusk if the offer is too high or low etc. As is he’s a third liner that wants out, also could try him out and trade his rights in offseason if arbitration gives him too high of an RFA raise.

The main point is Khudobin’s cap moved could get us a rental or whatever at the deadline.

Could go other directions too but this fan base hates veterans and hates guys that play the right way so there’s not a whole lot Khudobin’s cap would buy. So in this case Debrusk fills a hole in the depth chart.

Also who would be a good AHL veteran goalie to add to the AHL incase if a Holtby or Oettinger injury as Point and Schweppes are kinda not the best option...
Trades
1.
DAL
ARI
  1. Khudobin, Anton
Additional Details:
Khudobin for future considerations maybe also give them a minor leaguer or 6/7th round pick to eat the full salary.
2.
DAL
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
Additional Details:
Debrusk gets out and goes to a team lacking in LW depth.
BOS
  1. Ertel, Justin [Reserve List]
  2. Mascherin, Adam [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Mascherin’s rights go to a team that might not logjam their best minor leaguers and maybe gets a callup chance from Providence next year rather than stay in Europe as he knows the chances of a call up in Dallas are few the way they bring in cheap vets for holes you could try young guys that lit up the AHL out in.

Ertel another prospect younger but is playing at Cornell also a LW if that’s what the prospect pool in Boston could use. Otherwise other prospects are available.
2nd round pick because draft picks are sooooo valuable on here.

Another option could be trading Dellandrea and one of those prospects but no pick in the deal. IMO also Debrusk isn’t worth a first round pick just because he was drafted there.

I honestly don’t mind the idea of both trades.

I could honestly see buffalo taking Khudobin and possibly sending a late pick back. They need a goalie as well.

If we get any sort of positive value for Dobby, we should take it with no hesitation.

Also one problem I have with the trade and your explanation. You are claiming these young guys aren't getting a chance, but you brought in another forward with out sending a nhl forward out. Maybe s trade based around Gurianov could be a better option for both clubs, although I'm sure Boston would prefer a centre or LD back in return.

I say that cause you have Seguin on the fourth line, like I understand if his play is questionable, but you don't play Seguin on the fourth line.

He's still a NHL goalie who has barely got a chance to play and just hasn't done good on his few chances. If a team let's him get into s routine and get some games in I bet he rebounds. I don't see him as a cap dump at all really.

I mean just tell that to all the other 31 NHL teams, be my guess.

With the numbers he has, the cap flexibility he’s taking and the roster flexibility he’s taking anything that’s neutral value or above I’d accept immediately.

So my thinking is explaining the logjam is mostly my sales pitch on Mascherin that I believe has value, but Boston might want something else I get that. Just an example but I don’t think we trade Bourque, Harley or any other first rounders for Debrusk in that scenario I’d want more from Boston especially if we plan on just moving Debrusk if his cap goes up too high for 22-23.

For moving out and NHL player. I just don’t know who of value we could give Boston that can be moved this is under the assumption we are buyers, sellers at the deadline is a different scenario. If Boston would prefer a center or LD would they be even be interested in: Glendening, Hanley or Sekera? Seguin NMC, Lindell NMC, Suter NMC, Pavelski we keep if we are tryin to make playoffs, Peterson I would think we want to keep as he can play LW or C and he’s been improving I think it’s too early to look at trading him. Moving out the guys in the logjam helps them, helps the other team if they want some young blood I the lineup and reduces the guys getting screwed. Then next year there can be openings where the free agents leave (-Sekera, +Harley, -Radulov +Damiani or Dellandrea and have Gurianov in that 2RW spot.

Seguin is cooked just a 5 more year 9.85 million cap handicap. One if the best case scenarios is that at some point after Bishops contract is over Seguin gets hurt and LTIRetired. Slim chance under a new coaching staff they can adapt his game and get his production backup up but at this point. Hintz has take his job and Benn has been a noticeable presence at least and has played the role of a 2C (albeit very overpriced better than anyone else) where Seguin does very little unless he’s net front on a play. Also if trying to get another scoring line with Peterson and Gurianov Seguin is just a boat anchor holding them back, where Raffl’s pressure and agressive puck battling and Peterson’s possession tendency help Gurianov in theory. He’s the odd man out.

I didn't realize Seguin has dropped so much. Good to know.
