Absolutely not from the caps. If you want OVI and Backstrom you START with Crosby and Malkin. OVI is worlds better than Crosby now Crosby is regressing with age and becoming more fragile so is Malkin. OVI and backstrom are not. So even if was OVI and Backy for Malkin and Crosby it would still be a no from rhe caps

Ok though for real, not only would neither of these guys leave, you are trading table scraps, an ok prospect or two, and what would be late picks. If you really wanted this, you could try all your first rounders til 2025, and every top prospect you have. Then maybe you have value close.

I agree that this is an absolute terrible trade for the caps and not even in the same universe. However to say Ovi is better than Crosby is arguably wrong. If you’re strictly talking points, crosby has had a higher pts/60 like every year except this one. And has been relatively healthy. He only missed games this year because he got surgery so late in the season. Pens fans couldn’t understand that either tbh. But the game isn’t about just scoring. Crosby is the better 200 foot player, probably better captain too. Also regarding scoring, ovechkin has almost 80% offensive zone starts lol. Crosby only has 60 something. But will definitely agree Malkin is extremely injury prone now. However at the very least that ovechkin contract might be horrid in a couple years.
With all that said, it would be a sin to see Ovi in anything other than a caps jersey and Crosby/Malkin in anything but pens jerseys.

It’s crazy how a point per game for a 34 year old is regressing. Ovi is having a better year so far but that just shows how high the expectations are for Crosby

It’s regressing for Crosby who is usually over point per game and then there’s Ovechkin who at age 36 is having the best season of his career. That’s just UNhuman!!

i think sid has 16 in 15 but i get your point. the expectation for sid is 20-25 in 15 but no doubt ovi is playing some of his best hockey ever
