The Rasmus Dahlin Sweepstakes

Created by: wassie2010
Team: 2017-18 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2017
Published: Mar. 26, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. embrace the tank for another year. notable trade deadline pieces include Mike Green, Riley Sheahan, and maybe Nyquist? Trade for proscpects and picks.

2. Maybe hicketts and svech get a look for the big club as well? Hronek and Smith start their professional development in GR for another year allowing their contracts to slide another year. Would like to see Saarijarvi there as well.

3. Howard should be movable at some point (during the entry draft or at the trade deadline) if he continues to play well and stay healthy.

4. eat the ericsson and kronwall contracts til they're done. i'd consider an ericsson buyout if it meant the difference between signing and not signing shatenkirk but otherwise stay away from the buyout since it gets people off the books faster.

Don't see Howard being on the team next season, If Vegas doesn't take him. I think Holland will retain some of his salary to move him in a trade. Or he will be bought out.

I don't think the Wings are tanking, just collectively they are out of the playoffs team. But you're right, there also some pieces that could be traded at TDL which should accelerate the "tankiness" next year.
