Need some competency

Created by: maccer25

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 7, 2022
Published: Jan. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Was seeing if they could make some changes - the oilers have what might be the two best contracts in the NHL surrounded by so much bad money elsewhere. in Mcdavid's 7th year, this team should be pushing the pace on one of the best teams ever assembled - but they've just made bad move after bad move for years on end.

He is their 3rd worst defensemen to play minutes this year in xG and xG/60 as well as xGoal%

2nd worst in goals %

Not to mention his puck skills are atrocious - dont let anyone fool you. He has been just as bad here as he has everywhere else in his career

from what I have watched he hasn't been as bad as he was advertised and is from the worst Dman to play for the Oilers in the past couple of years

Of all of the goals scored when Cody Ceci is on the ice (for and against) the oilers score 39% of them, meaning when he's on the other team is scoring 61% of the goals - which is the definition of getting cooked (only player worse is broberg)

He also has an on-ice sv% of 88.93, and a PDO of 0.976, so you'd have to expect the actual GF numbers to improve. I personally think Ceci has been pretty solid for the team this year and doesn't need to be moved out.

Also, you talk about bad money and then overpay Benson, Lagesson, McLeod, and Yamo, re-sign the needless Perlini, and give 6 years to Manson...

Max Domi and Mark Psysk aren't the answers either, Manson and Rakell probably get more. Holloway probably makes the team. I can't see this team being any better with Mike Smith still as a starter.

No, you're right numbers aren't everything - but scoring more goals than the other team is how you win games, so not sure what you want me to say to that?
