That was last year. No team is taking on 8.5 mil a year (in this scenario, 10Mil total) for the next 4-5 years on him. In order to move him, Habs will need to cover 50%, and that's only after he comes back and plays for an extended period of time.
Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing person, and in the past has been an amazing goaltender, but his health (unfortunately both physical and mental) is currently unknown. I'm glad he took time away from the game to help his mental health. I wish more people would take that initiative, but teams can't take a chance on him at this point. What if he decides he can't do this anymore and walks away? Not saying it will happen, but it's possible. He's done great things in the NHL, but more importantly to him, he's got a loving family at home that I'm sure he'd much rather be with.
It's obvious hockey and life have taken their toll on him, and I wish him all the best, but hockey is a business and GM's aren't going to take a chance until they have more info.
