There are a lot of moving parts in this trade, but I think a three-way trade involving these teams makes a lot of sense. A lot of tweaks could definitely be made to this hypothetical trade, this is just a general idea of what such a trade could look like. Here are my justifications:

Arizona - Receives two 1st round picks, a former 1st rounder in Foudy, a good and young defenseman in Bean, and a flippable asset in Domi that could be flipped for more picks at the deadline. The Chicago pick is currently 8OA and should remain a top-10 pick, it will almost certainly be top-15. The Edmonton pick comes from the Koskinen cap dump to CBJ. The value Arizona receives falls somewhere between the two main comparables of the Eichel trade and Burns trade.

Columbus - Receives Chychrun and Koskinen, the latter being a cap dump from Edmonton.

Edmonton - Receives Phil Kessel to shore up the middle-6, Korpisalo to shore up goaltending, and Harrington as defensive depth. Koskinen is a cap dump and allows EDM to fit Kessel on to the team, the pick is for both that cap dump and the Kessel rental.

This trade assumes that Florida is unwilling to give up Lundell, Knight, and a 1st for Chychrun.

I love that you ended up giving the reasons and I can see this happening, But i dont think Chychrun would be considered. Thats the only thing i can possibly see being false about this. Great Job.

I like this, but I think EDM needs a defensive D man coming back instead of Harrington. It can work, but their need is goaltending (which you've addressed) and help in their own end (which Kessel and Harrington don't). They'd take Kessel, but if you included a guy like Stralman with ARI covering 50% and CLB covering 25% with another lower pick heading to CLB I think everyone jumps

Honestly I just think Columbus is giving up way to much in this deal

I (respectfully) disagree. The main pieces CBJ is giving up are Bean and the Chicago 1st. As things stand now, Foudy's ceiling appears to be a middle-6 forward and a regular part of the PK. The Chicago 1st will very likely fall in the 8-15OA range and it's also lottery-protected, Chychrun is exactly the kind of player you would want to draft in that range. Chychrun would be an upgrade over Bean too, though Bean still has plenty of upside. Korpisalo will be a UFA at the end of the season and he's definitely not going to be a starter in Columbus with Elvis signed long-term and Tarasov being our goalie of the future. Domi will likely be flipped at the deadline for a late 1st rounder if he isn't used in a trade like this and Harrington is a throw-in depth defenseman for EDM. This trade would definitely be a net gain for CBJ.

That makes a lot of sense and I think it would be quite easy to make that happen in this trade.

Thank you! This forum would be a lot more interesting if people gave justifications for the trades they create here, I try my best to do that. Chyhrun is definitely the kind of player a rebuilding team like Arizona should keep, so it's a bit weird that he keeps showing up in trade rumors. Arizona might just be trying to see if they can fleece a team in a Chychrun trade, like that rumored offer from Florida of Lundell, Knight, and a 1st. My trade only makes sense if Arizona genuinely wants to trade him and they're willing to do it for anything less than a highway robbery.

A second line center, a fringe starter, a top 4 young d man, potential 2nd line center and a top 10 pick for a defenceman who’s only had a top 20 defenceman season once and a back up goalie who’s paid 4 mil I also think Chychrun is a little overrated imo he has huge upside but really has only showed it last season I think it’s just an overpayment for Columbus
