I don't think Seattle is going to give up its first this year, it's likely a top-5 pick. Especially not for Voracek and Debrusk. Texier is the best young player in this deal considering his breakout this season and Boston is giving up very little for him, they're essentially having Seattle pay for him to go to Boston.

I guess time will tell how good Texier is - at this same point in their career DeBrusk had already out performed Texier by a country mile - Funny, "best" is a relative term I guess given 3 years separate DeBrusk and Texier. I do agree that it would be silly for the Kraken to pick up Voracek and silly for them to move their 1st round pick this year.

"Best" was likely an exaggeration for sure. DeBrusk has outperformed Texier, but Tex is also 3 years younger and has improved every year since he joined the league, while DeBrusk has stagnated/declined (from what I've heard). I guess my point is that DeBrusk is a known quantity at this point, a solid middle-6 winger. Texier on the other hand still has a ton of room to grow and he's capable of playing center, though he's probably going to be a winger for the most part. It's a choice between potential and a sure thing.

I would 100% give up Tex for Seattle's 1st this season though, this trade is just hugely imbalanced in Boston's favor and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You Bruins fans would absolutely love Texier though if you somehow got him!

Yeah I mean Tex isn't terrible - but just much like you talk about Tex finally hitting his groove, right now is still on par with Jake's "decline". To be fair DeBrusk really just needs a change of scenery as he has fallen out of favour with the Bruins brass. I mean we have seen this happen many times and most recently Sam Bennett and his move to Florida - its not like these guys just all of a sudden forget how to play. He is still a solid player he just needs to find a new home/fit.

Yeah this trade all around doesn't really make sense for the teams above (Bruins or Kraken), as it doesn't hit the mark on a D man or 2nd line C for the Bruins (no offense to Tex, he is ready for that roll). Kraken get's hosed as it doesn't help them at all and moving a potential top 5 pick this draft is silly given their roster. The Jackets are the only team that wins out as they get rid of cap and pick up a bottom 6 forward in Appleton and a 1st round pick that could be top 5 this year.
