Unfortunately, today's game was one of Hughes' worst performances recently but he's been incredible this year. About a point per game, generating insane offense, extremely fast, one of the best zone entries player, great at takeaways. All this at 20 years old. But as you saw today his main concern is turnovers. He tries to do too much at times (especially when the Devils are losing badly) which often leads to turnovers. But that isn't a surprise based on the amount of time he has the puck. So yeah, if he has less turnovers and gets more muscle, he could turn into a top 10 center in the next few years.
You should probably look back at some other games this year if you want a better look at Hughes. Devils vs Blackhawks and Devils vs Oilers
