He hasn't been a #4 Dman in Seattle and is proving to have offensive touch and good skating to go along with his size, grit and minute munching. He would slot in on McAvoys left side and provide a deterant to other teams targeting our best D. Could possibly replace the second pick with a later one but I believe a first will be necessary to get Seattle's attention. Maybe could get away with 2 second picks.
Jarnkrok is going to be drawing interest from a lot of teams as well. He is a steady veteran that can produce offense on the third line with Coyle. He would also re-sign for about the same amount he is making now. May need to over pay a little to make it happen but I think it's worth it in the long run.

He’s the guy i wanted in FA but they never got the chance.

However he’s still a 2nd pair guy with limited offense. A #4. He’s under 20m a night in Seattle.

I agree he’s a great fit. But that payment is crazy.

If the plan was to overpay, it's successful.

So what do you guys think would be the right price that Seattle would still agree to? He's averaging 19.30 TOI this year because Giordano is above him. In Dallas he averaged 20.30

He signed his contract last summer and has an NTC. He won't get moved nor he will want to. Same for Reilly who signed last year.

Reilly doesn't have a NTC and Oleksiak is playing on a Seattle team going no where for the length of his contract. A chance to play top minutes with McAvoy and have a shot at the playoffs could sway his decision. It's worth pursuing.

What I meant is that Reilly also signed his contract last year. Oleksiak didn't sign to leave Seattle 5 months into the season and he was obviously aware Seattle could be a bad/mediocre team in their first years otherwise he could have waited and signed for another team.

It's not happening.

Oleksiak signed because it was the most money he has ever been offered. I really think people have a misconception about NTC's. Although they are sometimes signed because a player wants to stay with a particular team, they are put in place more times so that a player has control of where they will and won't go. There is nothing specific about Seattle that would keep him tied to that area. His entire family lives in the Toronto area and a move to Boston would put him closer to them and provide a chance for success on the ice. None of us know his mind but in my opinion he would be foolish to pass up the opportunity. 🤷‍♂️
