they shouldn't have traded for Dadonov then.
This trade won't work because Vancouver needs cap space as well.

1) vegas traded for Dadonov before they traded for Jack Eichel, and weren’t in as much cap trouble as they are now.

2) As a Canucks fan, this is very beneficial for the Canucks. Get a young RD and Dadonovs contract expires after next year which aligns with the Canucks competitive cycle better than pearsons contract, which is longer. A short, larger contract in this case makes more sense because the cap space will be free by the time they are actually able to compete, where it can then be relocated somewhere else.
