MacKinnon to Isles?

Created by: IslesHockey
Team: 2017-18 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 4, 2017
Published: Apr. 4, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
He's apparently no longer untouchable, signed for 6 more years, Isles definitely have the pieces to trade, lets give this a go for next year. Trade would obviously come after expansion draft.

Along with that the Isles Protect: JT, Ladd, Lee, Cizikas, Hamonic, Boychuk, Leddy, Pulock, Greiss

Hopefully Vegas grabs Hickey, an absolutely atrocious defensman. DO NOT resign De Haan, an equally bad defenseman who will want and more than likely get at least $3,000,000.

Along with that they trade Halak and Nelson to get some picks back from the Mac trade.

Also sign Tom Gilbert, a reliable defensive defensive and trade for Stralman, a fantastic defensive defenseman tohelp a need that they struggled with all season long.

And finally sign Linus Soderstrom to fill the void Halak left with. Sorokin is still under contract and Soderstrom is rumored to sign with the Isles this offseason so he would be perfect until Sorokin comes over.

And with all those moves they still have $7,000,000 to sign JT to a monster contract (~8x$85).

Let me know what you like and dont like, thanks.

  1. MacKinnon, Nathan
Additional Details:
The trade value of Mackinnon from what I've seen looks to be around a Young Potential 1st Pair Dman, Young Forward Prospect, Top 10 pick
COL
  1. Dal Colle, Michael
  2. Hamonic, Travis
  3. 2018 1st round pick (NYI)
  4. 2018 2nd round pick (NYI)
  5. 2019 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
The Avs fans Ive talked to would rather have an already established fairly young D-Man than hope Pulock pans out which is why I added him here. In my opinion this trade feels like it wouldnt get it done but that's just what I saw trade value wise and technically this meets their demands and more.

    1. 2018 4th round pick (CAR)
    Additional Details:
Carolina is just a place holder. Halak can be moved in my opinion to any team that needs a goalie for a 4th with retained salary.
    CAR
    1. Halák, Jaroslav ($2,000,000 retained)
    4.
    NYI
    1. Strålman, Anton
    Additional Details:
Doubt he would wave no trade clause but it'd be great to get him on the Island. Also not 100% sure of his trade value.
    TBL
    1. 2018 3rd round pick (NYI)
    Additional Details:
Isles bolster their defensive with a fantastic defensive defenseman.

    1. 2018 3rd round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
Montreal needs Center depth. With that Isles roster theres no need for Nelson.

You honestly are going to take stock in the Hockey News making a rumour out of the Edmonton Journals crazy writers in Jim Matheson as a legit rumour? All the Avs beat writers laughed at this as soon as it came out.

When a beat writer of another team is saying a star of an opposing team could be traded to become better like the Oilers (Hall for Larsson...which he wrote a long article about how the Avs could learn from the Oilers)....I dont think this has any legs.

Also there is no package of players that would get you MacK...what you posted as the asking value (made up) and what you gave up dont not align

DeHaan is an RFA. It will take an offer-sheet to sign him if you are another team. You could probably get more in a trade than what the offer-sheet will be.

I dont know if its just me, but I'm assuming he'll get around $3,000,000 which compensation wise is a 2nd. Theres almost 0 shot a team gives up a first for De Haan. And if they do that GM needs to be fired immediately.
