I can't see VEG trading a great contract like Stephenson to offload Dadonov. I think they'd rather just pay ARI a higher pick to unload him straight off. Not saying the offer for Stephenson isn't decent, just don't think he's a guy who's on the block.

Well, this was my thinking. It helps Vegas in 3 ways. 1. In one trade it probably clears enough cap space for Eichel. 2. It allows them to keep Reilly Smith, Alec Martinez, or whoever else for this year's playoff push. 3. It gives them a 1st round draft choice for 2022 and a good Dman prospect. Now, I know they like Stephenson a lot so this trade is probably a NO. For the Wild, it gives them a 2C (for this year's playoff push) on a good contract letting them choose who to keep next year. Between 5 players (Stephenson, Fiala, Greenway, Dumba, and Goligoski) you can probably keep 3 of the 5 for next year's team, choosing who best fits your team. So, it's a trade that really helps both teams if Vegas thinks Stephenson is expendable. Maybe if the Wild add a little it'll coax Vegas into the trade.
