Could be any team, but Toronto is convenient as the return is just draft picks.

The trades are less about who is coming in to the lineup, and more about making space to redistribute minutes with who is already on the Canucks.
Sedins get PP time, but are split to cover for their lack of speed while multiplying the worth of their hockey-minds.

Eaves comes for 1 year of big money and every opportunity to prove his year in Anaheim wasn't a fluke.
Flyers trade Giroux because tying up $8.3 million and top line minutes for a 14 goal scorer doesn't work for anyone. Giroux fits with Eriksson longer term.
Toronto internally wants Tanev, this is just a cheap price that doesn't touch their core or dent their future pipeline.

Surprisingly it all fits under the existing cap, the trades are mutually beneficial, signings are reasonable. I'm not sure about the lines, but I feel comfortable there is a good mix to draw from.

"Toronto internally wants Tanev, this is just a cheap price that doesn't touch their core or dent their future pipeline." Quite an assumption.
You (we) don't know what Leaf management want. But reading from Leafs fans posts, Tanev is not on their radar at all. Most of these Tanev trades are from desperate Canuck fans. As pointed out, the Leafs have plenty of cap space to acquire a good defenceman without giving up so much if any assets.

Fair enough, but you probably also don't watch Tanev so it's a guess. Great comparable is Jay Bouwmeester - 6 years of age. Price for him at an older age and when D were cheaper was 1st rd pick + prospect + roster player.

Picks are what Toronto has an excess of, they have no roster players of interest to offer. Larsson was a steep price for Edmonton but no one regrets it, meanwhile Toronto is on the edge of missing the playoffs because they haven't addressed their D. It's a no-brainer, Tanev single-handedly buys them 2 extra rounds of playoff hockey and they have no alternatives or internal candidates.

Who do you think they want that they can get?

goldie. No the Leafs don't have an excess of picks. Two seconds gone this year in the Anderssen, Boyle trades. Two thirds rounders for the Babcock, Lameriollo signings.
LOL. will you claim that Tanev can buy them two extra playoff rounds. Not even Karlsson can do that and being an Ottawa fan, I wish he could. And the Leafs do have lots of alternatives besides Tanev. Why are so many Tanev trades to the Leafs? Don't other teams see his value. Obviously not. You haven't been watching the Leafs lately. There defence has been adequate or even better since probably February.

I don't like how this site allows switching of trades after comments have been made on the posts. Rychel for Kapanen "doesn't make Leafs happier". There is a big difference is their NHL potential.

Eaves for 6 but Horvat for 4 and 5 years? He deserves more or if you're going to low ball him it will be a bridge deal.
