I don't think Rangers should do this TBH. Yes Laf is struggling but let him develop with the bit if cap problems coming up in the next few years

Rangers have $11,533,531 in cap space to sign 9 players this summer. Plus potentially $3,600,000 in performance bonuses as well. They can't afford to pay Johnny Gaudreau at that price or any price for that matter.

NYR decline. Gaudreau is way too expensive for us, and I am not high on giving up Laffy so early into his career
