Offseason Flat Cap

Created by: YYZ019
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2022
Published: Feb. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Sharks look like they can make the playoffs (if healthy) and have some cap space to play with since terminating Evander Kane's contract.

First up is the RFA's. Ideally, all of them would be bridged except for Mario Ferraro and Johnathan Dahlen, they can get medium-term extensions.

Now we need some cap space, Nick Bonino is ok but his cap hit is too much. Boston needs center depth and I think Bonino wouldn't mind playing in Beantown

The other way to make cap space is buyouts, it sucks to say but Marc-Edouard Vlasic is more useful as a dead cap than as a roster filler guy

Now we sign Tomas Hertl, I'm sure he's willing to take a reasonable salary. Barbanov also had a strong season and seems to fit in well in San Jose. He also seems like he'd take a reasonable salary. Finally, Nathan Beaulieu as a 7th D is a solid fit

I don't think Barabanov, Gregor, or Gadjovich will be on the team next year to be honest. But Eklund and Bordeleau will. Plus depending on how poorly the rest of this season goes, the Sharks could draft high enough to get someone who makes the team next season.

Come on brad Lambert! lol
we will probably draft top 10 and i want Lambert bad.
Barabanov would be nice to keep but more like 3 for 3
gregor probably not and definitely not for that much, way to high. middleton will be closer to 1.25, no to nick merkley no to gadjovich and hert gets 8+

Correct, but I typically like to budget for a flat cap

One thing I forgot to mention is I never allow for any players with 0 NHL experience on these rosters
