Arizona leverage your assets

Created by: MadLin27
Team: 2022-23 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2022
Published: Feb. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
ARZ needs players for next year. Leveraging their excess picks and cap space, they can get short term and long term talent.

I'm not suggesting they make all these moves, but does anyone like any of these moves for the Yotes?

You're gonna need more than that for Fiala.

I think its a good move for both teams. Calgary pretty much has to move him. Arizona gets a top 6 centre that needs a change of scenery.
ARZ has 5 2nd rounders. Easy swap IMO. Yes he only has 1 year on his deal, but beggers can't be choosers for the yotes.

Do you think Minny re-signs him?
I had a feeling they were gonna have trouble re-signing him.

That doesn't matter in the context of what his trade value is.

I don't see why Arizona should be interested in him, but from another team, I would expect a 1st and a good prospect. Like when the Wild traded Zucker to Pittsburgh for a 1st+Addison, it should be something along those lines. A young NHL ready top 6 C prospect could work with a lesser asset included depending on the quality of the player.

Arizona needs some talent.
They don't want to finish bottom 5 every year.
At some point you have to surround your young players with a supporting cast.
Thats why I would look into players like Fiala

Arizona needs warm bodies, not quality players. They're just starting a rebuild (just look how many picks they have this summer) and are years away from making a splash at all.

They should be scavenging the UFA for the middle class players that cap-strapped teams can't afford to sign and taking on cap dumps in order to acquire even more assets. More guys like Andrew Ladd, Loui Eriksson, Antoine Roussel, etc. They shouldn't be giving up any picks at all.

Finish dead last, draft Connor Bedard, then they can start looking into acquire some quality players from other teams.

I would say Arizona needs to find talent through buy-low opportunities, like they did with Gostisbehere. Fiala would be more of a buy-high player. Beyond that, they need good leadership and quality veterans to teach the young guys. Fiala is a great player, but that's not his role either.

After that, I don't think they need to worry about finding the best players they can until they start hitting on some of their draft picks and they look good in the NHL. We're still several years away from that. This rebuild has only just begun.
