I like those players sending to Edmonton but struggle to see how any of them find a spot on the team when healthy. Don’t mind seeing the team pay for insurance type of players but also don’t really fit for that purpose either.

Miller is a very solid 3rd pair D and can play on your 2nd PP. The move adds Miller but also saves the Leafs salary space this year and next.

I agree, I think teams will pay for depth this year more than normal. Eakin is really only good on faceoffs. The other two are solid bottom of the line up players.

Might be a different conversation if Tippett was still the coach and showed more willingness to play veterans over youth but woodcroft seems more than confident with the youth which at this point are better players. No disrespect honestly do see each of them having some value to playoff teams but in separate deals. If one playoff team looked to add all of them they probably aren’t expecting a lengthy run.

I agree, it will be interesting to see how the Oilers play it. The Sabres are in clear sell mode of vets on expiring deals. I think playoff bound teams relying on young player with buy some vets as insurance. A lot easier to sit vets in the press box and not worry about stunting their development. I wish there was a deal for the Sabres to get their hands on Holloway, he's a really nice young player. Wonder when the Oilers are going to call him up.

Ya don’t see Holloway going to Buffalo anytime soon. Not sure if he will get called up given the team has been playing soo well under Woodcroft. Once Keith comes back that will kinda force some roster movement so maybe they do something then and give an opportunity before kass gets back. Hard to say right now.

Guess it depends what you think of Ritchie. Miller retained should be worth a 2nd. Is it worth taking a free bonus year of Ritchie at 2.5m for just a 3rd? I think the Sabres are asking for a first for basically this exact situation (we retain and we take a crappy player back with another year left). Will they get it?- I don't know, but I bet they would rather take the second alone and a player who doesn't have extra years as a Cap dump

Leafs have plenty of 3rd pair D. Their issue is at 2nd pair.

Miller is better than their current 2nd and 3rd pair RHD. On a top playoff team he's a 3rd pair D, is how I should have phrased it.
