Ok let’s say the oilers go after chychrun then in the offseason find out Keith doesn’t want to retire and klef says he wants to attempt a return? Going to have roughly 25 million tied up in left d while also having multiple young guys pushing for a spot there.

don't think you have to worry about that problem (and having Chych is a good problem to have) with an offer like this lol

Zona looking for a 2022 1st, high end prospect and a young rostered player.

You gave up a 2023 1st, a dump in Kassian and a prospect but not good enough.

Honestly not much chance of a Schenn trade within our division.

I’m not even looking at what’s being used here to get him I’m just looking at what he would do to the cap situation moving forward if just one of Keith or klef doesn’t announce retirement at the end of season it’s crippling. That’s why oilers haven’t expressed any interest it just doesn’t make sense to target him. Then look at what the cost would actually be to get him just pushed Edmonton well out of the conversation. Yes he would be awesome to have but circumstances make no sense.

Between Barrie and kassian leaving in these trades there is more than enough money for him. It saves 3 million. Keeping them is a worse cap situation
