Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2022
Published: Feb. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jet's are in cap hell, with Dubois and Copp on expiring deals and the only cap hit coming off the books is Statsney, they may need to move money out in order to make things balance
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Appleton, Mason
Additional Details:
I think Jet's miss Appleton, with Copp and Lowry they made a great third line. Without him the Jet's bottom six forwards hasn't been a threat to other teams at all
2.
WPG
  1. Pysyk, Mark
Additional Details:
I think Stanley has been good enough to move on from Demelo or Schmidt. I think Schmidt might cost some picks to get rid of the cap hit that Winnipeg might not want to give up. This trade wouldn't necessarily be for Pysyk just any depth dman to play with Stanley

The Jets are fine cap-wise? They trade Copp/Stastny at the deadline or let them walk in the summer since both on expiring deals and we have more than enough cap space.

I like Appleton, but I think DeMelo may be worth a bit more. Maybe because peg is cash strapped, Seattle has em where they want em, but I would ask for more

The Jets aren't giving up DeMelo for Appleton, that is awful value for Winnipeg.

Winnipeg also won't be buying at the TDL, so it makes no sense for them to give up a 3rd for a rental 7/8 defenseman.

We'll yes that would solve the cap situation but without Copp who would their third line be? Lowry Vesalainen and Harkins? We saw how effective a good third line could be for the Jets the past couple seasons and this year it has really fallen off so I would say trying to keep Copp should be a pretty high priority

Ya fair point something else could be added to the trade. I was just thinking of who it would make sense to give up to move some money out. To me Schmidt or DeMelo would make sense but I think DeMelo would be a little easier to move being a right shot and making a little less money
