He's an average goalie, maybe a little better. Almost Skinner's level, but 4x the money. He's not the answer to any of Edmonton's questions.

An alternate universe.

Seriously though, why would Philly trade Hart? He’s who you build around. Unless you’re in a position to guarantee lottery picks, I genuinely wouldn’t trade him for three firsts. Hart is worth more than three mid-to-late-round firsts.

Honestly I don’t see any reason to bring in a goalie. Ideally I’d like to see smith skinner tandem. Even smith and kosk they will provide goaltending that reflects the team in front of them. Team plays solid they play solid. They struggle when they get hung out to dry. Bringing in someone that MIGHT be better than current options is just sweeping other problems under the rug until playoffs when they get exposed. Rather trust in what we got maybe move kosk for cap purposes and address the team infront of smith and skinner.

Yeah, seriously. Over the past 3 years he's -16.5 GSAx over the past 3 years. That's well below average, but I'll give him credit because he's still young.

2019-20: +7.25 GSAx
2020-21: -24.34
2021-22: +0.59

He's a hair above average this season. There's nothing elite about his play the last 2 seasons. Edmonton's prospect Stuart Skinner is younger, cheaper and has posted a +1.01 GSAx so far this year. Is he worth multiple firsts? Of course not. So why is Hart?

The team was absolutely garbage defensively last season and still is bad defensively. Hart is drastically better than skinner

If you don't understand what GSAx is, just ask. No need to make stupid comments.

I understand goals save above expected is. He had a bad year but when you look at his play he is constantly left out to dry

That's baked into the "expected". The fact is he had a terrible year last year and he's only average this year. Skinner, although drafted a year later and new to the NHL, is having a better year than Hart and isn't playing behind a stellar defense either.

Skinner isn't better than Hart. Hart has shown far more upside and watching every game plays solid

I've watched a good bit of both. Skinner is a good promising goalie but Hart is better now and will be better

Talent ceiling and overall play

Based on overall play, Skinner is better right now. Ceiling is highly subjective and largely unknown at this point.

Hart simply isn't worth the cost.
