TDL 2022

Created by: BFBlues03
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2022
Published: Feb. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't think Boston will trade for Hertl, unless they can get an extension, or feel like they have a good shot at getting one. For the sake of this exercise, I am assuming that Hertl is at least open to a contract extension with the Bruins.
Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Hertl, Tomas ($2,812,500 retained)
SJS
  1. Beecher, John [Reserve List]
  2. DeBrusk, Jake ($1,837,500 retained)
  3. Studnicka, Jack
  4. 2022 1st round pick (BOS)
  5. 2023 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
DeBrusk for cap purposes, SJ can flip (will be easier with smaller cap hit), or not extend QO in offseason
2.
BOS
  1. Järnkrok, Calle ($1,000,000 retained)
SEA
  1. Senyshyn, Zach
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (BOS)

Why would the sharks take a trade for DeBrusk being the best player coming back but not giving him a QO? That seems foolish. Just add a top prospect

I get why BOS would pay an arm and a leg to bring in a 2C considering Bergeron's age and a closing window.
I just don't think there is enough help on the rest of the team to say, if we get one that's it we are a legit cup team.
Because of that it just seems like it's adding good money to bad.
BOS should do what PIT is doing, and keep it's picks

Oh, I fully agree with you. This post isn't so much about what I would do, it's more so on what I think Sweeney/team management would do.
