Description
Assuming Muzzin has to go on LTIR for the remainder of the year. Thoughts on the two deals to shore up the Leafs BlueLine? I'm not worried about Cap implications in 22-23 for this scenario. Obviosuly the hope is Muzzin is healthy enough to come back, but roster adjustments can be made in the offseaon to menuver cap space.

Don't see Verbeek retaining $1,000,000 on Manson without a 1st round pick coming back. But then again that's just me.

You're possibly right. My thinking on the retention was it leaves the Leafs with $1.7M in cap space. If a condition of the trade was for Anaheim to not retain, then it still works for the Leafs leaving them with $0.7K in cap space.

You're right. But Holl's value is in the toilet and he has another year on the deal, which is why I felt the overpayment was necessary.

The leafs literally traded a more expensive significantly worse player and got value back for, at worst, a 2nd 3 years from now which is not valuable at all.
Manson isnt worth half that with holl

I guess the other side to all this, what team has ever traded for three brand new Defenseman at the deadline and made it all the way to the Cup Final? Even if these deals were accepted as is or accepted as tweaked versions, I can't imagine the Leafs chemistry would line up.
