JVR back in Leafs would be interesting but with his cap hit it's not going to happen.

So two leaf fans say no, one says yes (if he's being serious), what would it take to get this to work if TOR needed more?

Am not saying Leafs should do this. Imo it's a harmful deal for them. Just would like to see JVR back there. He was there scoring during their worst struggles, so it'd be nice to see what he could do there with proper team in place.

But what do you think it would take for this to realistically happen? More retention on JVR's contract? More draft picks (seems kinda less pressing with their window), or more prospects closer to the show to supplement their crazy expensive lineup?

Realistically happen? Realistically it's not going to. Marner is performing at his career best rate as of now and Leafs at least perceive themselves as contenders so realistically speaking there's no way they move Marner right now. If they once again drop in the first round of the playoffs and he once again disappears, then maybe some harsher course of actions should be considered, but at this moment there's no way TOR deals Marner. There isn't a single asset in Flyers that would make it even remotely worthwhile.
