While Forsberg would be great here, that is far too much to give up for a rental. I also can't imagine NSH will be sellers.

Andy Strickland reported that they’re “actively shopping superstar Filip Forsberg”

I don't see how that makes any sense for a team heading to the playoffs, but regardless, that is just too much to give up for a rental IMO.

They could definitely fit him in next year, but they’d have to get rid of either zuck, matheson or petty

They have to get rid of Zucker and either Petts or MM just to keep most of this current roster. Forseberg is going to get PAID. The Pens will have no room for him.

You'd have to move at least two expensive contracts to fit Forsberg in, Because once Malkin, Letang and Rust are resigned that basically eats what cap you've left.
Pens2000 liked this.

Malkin signs for roughly 7 or under, Letang signs for 8 and rust signs around 6 or higher they could definitely fit in forsberg by giving away zucker. What’s forsbergs projected next contract tho? Definitely north of 7, maybe 8?

This is a quantity over quality offer.

PIT honestly doesn't have the kind of prospects it would take to get Forsberg with max retention.
