A) If they add another D, it will only be for LHD on the 3rd pair. The Right is stacked. And while we knew Lindgren was solid, K'Andre has picked up his game tremendously of late. No need to break the bank for D, with more pressing needs at RW and possibly 3C. Wouldn't give up anything higher than a 3rd for it.

2) I don't think they really need it, anyway. Nemeth isn't the answer, but I am fine with Zac Jones. He's still learning on the job, but definitely hasn't been a hindrance. As young as they are, the combo of him and Schneider (again, your bottom pairing), haven't looked overwhelmed to me.

Thing is- Z. Jones really is the answer for their 3rd pair. Mobile, puck moving Dmen is what is needed...not "crease clearing big bodies"- who in reality are only road cones that consistently end up in the penalty box. The games this year where the team has looked best is when he's been on the 3rd pair- although playing sheltered minutes. Have to live with the mistakes young D men make.

But the reality is that while Jones may be a mid to long term answer, Drury and Gallant probably wont trust him in the short term. Nemeth- coming off injury, personal issues, illness, etc will be give a real good look up to the TDL. They will hope he can build a little value to be depended on in the short term, and then off loaded in the off season for CAP purposes. If Nemeth doesn't show BIG improvement from his earlier poor play, I can see NYR adding a LD by the TDL...just hope it's not Chiarrot- he's exactly the opposite of what the team needs...and the team has enough "character, leadership, veteran presence, etc" in the lockerroom right now.

At that cost, NO THANKS.
