In a world where Finnish players have been banned from playing in the NHL, but nobody knows for how long. Carolina, already with Aho, Teravainen, and Kotkaniemi decide to gamble that the Finns will be allowed back sooner rather than later, and go all in, trying to assemble as many Finns as possible while they're at low value to assemble a superteam if Finns are ever allowed back. The Oilers, on the other hand, want to win now, and Jesper Fast is the best roster player available because nobody wants to trade for Finnish players anymore.
