I think all 3 of P.Zacha, V.Olofsson or D.Gurianov makes sense to me. All 3 young RFA’s(making about the same money). And all 3 need a change of scenery, are in their teams doghouse or arnt playing up to their expectations.

Maybe the other team adds a late round pick instead of the Pens, like a 5th-6th-7th, because Kappy has better #’s than all 3 of them and was just traded for a 1st round pick(15th overall) and a “B”, “B-“ prospect just a year and a half ago.

And even though he’s in the dog house, he was still a .75 PPG last season and .5 PPG this season. And he’s playing poorly. That’s still a good “floor”. So maybe the other team adds a late round pick.

Either way, I’d be happy with any of the 3. Being they are all RFA’s and still controllable.

Ohhh alright I see now. I like the idea of change of scenery yet don't know if it would yield much better results than Kappy. Gurianov intrigues me the most. I was a big fan of him a few years ago. Thing just haven't gone great for him.

Zacha intrigues me the most. The youngest, biggest, most physical and most versatile. And the highest drafted/highest potential, even though Kappy and Gurianov were 1st round picks too, Zacha was 6th overall. Can play Center too and I wouldn’t mind seeing a line of Zacha/Geno/Carter

That was a bad pick at 6. They just drafted the safest player available. He doesn't provide that much offence. Good players, but the other 2 would provide much more offense if put in the correct opportunity. Plus they have been looking for a fellow Russian to play with Geno for a long time. It could be a good match.

If the pens could somehow get both Gurianov and Zacha, I’d be happy and think they’d be able to keep the 3 big UFAs. Zacha could slot in as 3LW, Zucker as 2RW, Gurianov as 2LW.

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Gurianov-Malkin-Zucker
Zacha-Carter-Heinen
ZAR-Blueger-McGinn
ERod could literally rotate to keep players healthy and fresh down the stretch. Then let him walk and this is your forward group next year with OConnor or Zohorna replacing ZAR

Olfosson is the smallest, isn’t physical at all and isn’t a good two-way player. I would rather Kappy.

Zacha, 6’3, 210 and has 59 “hits” in 50 games this season and had 43 “hits” in 49 games last season. Good- two way player and way more versatile than all 3 other players. He can play Center.

Olofsson is 5’10, 182 and has just 4 “hits” this season in 44 games. Just 33 “hits” in his career 160 games.

Denis Gurianov is 6’3, 195. Has 46 “hits” in 46 games this season and had 63 “hits” in 55 games last season.

Kappy is 6’1, 195. Has 72 “hits” in 54 games this season and 41 “hits” in 40 games last season.

All have had similar #’s offensively. All have underperformed as far expectation offensively.

Olofsson doenst touch anyone on the ice. And the a weak 200 foot player.. No thanks. And he’s definitely not a Hextall/Burke type of player.

I’d take Zacha, D.Gurianov, Kappy, Olofsson in that order. And all 3 also have 1st round pedigree. Olofsson was a 6th round pick. 1st round pedigree still has value in a trade; especially for a young player, 25 or under, and on his 1st team still. Like Zacha and D.Gurianov.

Hits are such an irrelevant stat. Do you know why for the most part you hit? It's ecause you don't have possession of the puck. poke checks and stick lifts are much more useful due to the speed of the game. Hits are more or less just counted when breaking the cycle. "Hits" are subjective. The Islanders have had inflated numbers for YEARS. Now, I agree especially with Burke there now they will want more physical player. None of these players are actually physical. This post is looking at a top 6 winger to play with geno, not a bottom 6 checker. Playing with geno would be an excellent opportunity for any of these players, especially for a guy like olofsson who is stuck on a terrible sabers team. I still would want to see gurianov on that line just with his speed size combination. Maybe the Russian connection will work? It would be fun to see some new blood injected into the lineup. Also "first round pedigree" is useless for players in their mid 20s. Their development is done. I'd rather have the player who worked his ass off enough to make the show after being drafted late.

It’s not irrelevant when u are just talking about the physicality of players. And Olofsson has 3 hits all year. He’s not physical at all. You can fall into more hits than that with his amount of ice time.

Olofsson doenst touch anyone on the ice. And a weak 200 foot player.. No thanks.

I’d take Zacha, D.Gurianov, Kappy, Olofsson in that order.

He’s definitely the least physical of those 4 players (Olofsson, Zacha, Gurianov, Kappy). And the worst 200 foot player of the 4. Again, not Hextall/Burke type player.

They put Jeff Carter and Brock McGinn with Geno cause that’s what they want with Geno and that’s his style. More of a power forward. He uses his size and physicality often.

You can’t have 3 small, non physical guys on a line. Never works. It’s the reason Rust works well with Sid and Jake. You need a physical guy to do the dirty work on those top lines too.
