Sigh. Alright, lets go through this slowly.
Part one:
Debrusk has been a productive player for the bruins of late - after a very slow start, he’s been playing a lot better. 7 goals and 9 points in the last 10 games, earning him a promotion to the top line.
Part two:
The bruins sole mission in trade right now is to improve the current roster that will be playing in the playoffs this year.
Part three:
A draft pick doesn’t play for the bruins this year
Part four: It is unlikely, bordering on impossible, that the Bruins would be able to move a second round pick (the return of this trade), for a roster player that provides a stronger impact to the roster than Debrusk.
That’s clear, right? Same page now? Good.
I get what you’re saying
It’s just utterly nonsensical
Bc your GM is NOT going to focus SOLELY on this season as you’re (at the least) implying
So I’d keeping DeBrusk isn’t in their plan moving forward,
then it fully makes sense to turn him into an asset or assets that will
And acting like u can’t replace DeBrusk this season is also bananas
You DON’T KNOW what a 2nd round pick can or can’t get at the deadline- not unless u have some sort of crystal ball
I’m sure a winger will be available to replace him
Maybe it’ll be an improvement, maybe it won’t
But the bottom line is that it’s bad asset management to let DeBrusk leave for nothing
And even if all u got was a pick & didn’t replace him this season,
big deal
U guys aren’t Cup contenders this season with him anyways
It’s unlikely u even get past the 1st round
