Offseason

Created by: realKyleDavidson
Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2022
Published: Mar. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto would have to move some money. Could swap other B level prospects in or out.

I'll likely look at some bottom six FA's to fill out the roster and flip at the deadline. This team will be #tanking

That Toronto trade is really bad for Toronto. In fact the trades are really bad for the team not named the Chicago Blackhawks, they either don't suit the needs at all for the other teams or are crazy expensive.

Probably because he's a really good young forward but I don't think Edmonton is the team for him. Thus why I said it was a bad trade for them.

wow thanks for the great insight smile Good to know Toronto doesn't need D help, Edmonton doesn't need scoring depth....those late first round picks are surely going to be better players

Okay, I can understand if you don't want him but I don't think it's fair to say it's a bad trade. Great player on a fantastic deal with RFA status at the end of it

It's only a bad trade because it's going to the wrong team, but I think that the value is a little high as contending teams will be unwilling to give up so much. I think he'll get close to what Chychrun gets because both are in the same boat of being to old for the rebuild but also of being incredibly young and high skilled.

Contending teams are the perfect team to give up this kind of package....go for it when the windows open. I know other teams will be willing to give up a similar package so maybe not Edmonton but this is what he'll bring back if traded. People can talk shooting percentage but he plays the whole game and is establishing himself as a top six forward
SociallyHawkward liked this.

Yeah that's fair, I think it will be incredibly close to the Chyrchrun trade but I don't like the Ottawa deal at all, they're giving up a top goaltending prospect that's been one of the best in the AHL and a fourth all for a center that Ottawa has absolutly no need for anymore.

Well yikes, we have a large difference in opinion on Sogaard then, I viewed him as a B level prospect at best considering his numbers in the AHL are 900% and 3gaa, I'd be happy to take a different prospect and mid round pick. I picked them because they have cap space and can take a chance on a high upside NHL player

Fair, I think he'll go to another team though, I also would just rather give up a pick for him like a second because Soggard is only 21 and had an outstanding start to his North American career going 7-0 down the strech for Bellville. He's also 6,7 which is huge.

Which means huge holes....we get caught up in size sometimes, like other sports. I'd be happy to take a second and fourth round pick instead

Just a second, I've seen thirds traded for him, otherwise TBL 2nd and a 2023 or 24 fourth, our one this year is conditional. I've read he moves very well in the net which is an amazing thing for a bigger guy. He might be the future in net for Ottawa.

We can all dream. But from what I've read he'd be lucky to make it as a regular starter in the NHL

Teams have offered a first and top prospect. He's incredibly valuable. Now that I"m the permanent GM real discussions will happen
