Sam Lafferty for Alex Nylander. He’s playing super well in the AHL for the Pens so far too(8 goals and 16 points in 24 games). And Lafferty playing well for Chicago.

Lafferty wasn’t getting an opportunity with the Pens. He’s a legit bottom 6 for a contending/play-off team. Pens just so deep there Lafferty never got a real chance.

He’s playing well in Chicago; 2 goals and 3 points in 19 games. And doing what he does best; 33 “hits” and 12 blocks in 19 games for Chicago. And good FO % too. Good energy guy, bigger than people think, a right-handed shot, still just 26 years old, has play-off experience, good 200-foot player, and he’s versatile(can play C, RW, LW). I’m happy for him.

Not gonna lie I know Nylander's bro is a part of this but Steeves be looking like a College FA steal who could be an interesting 2-way bottom 6 LW for 2022-2023. Also is 2 years younger. Holl has been much better now so trading him for a guy in the minors and a bottom 6 piece we got tonnes of is a no go.

So pass

Like if Nylander was playing better I would look into it but hes been disappointing on 2 AHL teams where he should dominate.

Ya, I like Steeves too.

I figured Riikola and D.Simon together equal Holl salary. Simon can help out Leafs on the wing and Riikola just needs an better opportunity. He’s a 3rd pairing on most teams. 7th D-man at worst. He got injured last season after having that really good 2019 season where he earned and was rewarded that 1.1M contract.

He plays both LHD/RHD equal as well. Got a rocket shot, good point on the PP, moves the puck well and gotten a lot better 200 feet, he’s definitely big enough at 6’1, 190 pounds.

I like the leafs D pairings:
Reilly/Liljegren
Sandin/TJBrodie
Dermott or Rikkola / I.Lyubushkin

And Knies and Topi Niemela look Like steals also. I was trying to explain to a Calgary fan the other day that Knies and Niemela are the Leafs top prospects. Not Amirov. Well maybe Nic Robertson. Nic Robertson, Knies and Niemela.

I was telling him Nic Robertson = Pelletier and Knies = Coronato and Topi Niemela = C.Zary.

That if the drafts were redone, Knies would be a top 15 pick and so would Niemela(especially being a RHD). Niemela would be drafted ahead of C.Zary for sure. Coronato and Knies would both be top 15 picks. Very close to each other. Nic Robertson and Pelletier both even have the same knocks on them; their size.
