Both were drafted with picks the blue jackets traded, same for Jarry and Couturier

Dermott draft selection was traded to Toronto with a 3rd for a 1st (Carlsson)

Gadjovich draft selection was traded to Vancouver for the rights to talk to Tortarella. Yes we traded a 2nd round pick for to sign a coach.

Kopitar. Old Dougie Mac screwed us over in the 2005 draft when we were ready to draft Kopitar and ended up with Brule. He really set this franchise back with that pick. His worst trade was the Federov trade. Scott Howson probably made the worst trade in franchise history with the Carter trade. I remember yelling at the TV because I knew we were screwed with that trade. We traded just coming into his prime Voracek, our 1st round pick which became Couturier, and a 3rd which was Nick Cousins for that tool, Carter. He never wanted to be here and Holmgren saw Howson coming. What a bone headed deal.
